Ganna Poppea Veenhuysen (Amsterdam, 1969) grew up with stories, music and dance. She has always had a special interest in the human functioning.
For the last 23 years she studied mastering the clear expression of intention through language and physical awareness. Texttheatre in Holland, physical theatre in Belgium, she fell in love with an acrobat, joined the circus, learned about acrobatics, muscles, stretching and how to be in contact with the audience. She practised dance and martial art (i.a Hiphop, African dance, Capoeïra and Kalaripayat.) Then she studied clown techniques in France which is all about transparancy of being and getting to know your inner patterns. She travelled to different countries to perform and to train people: Haiti, Senegal, Siberia, Morocco, Bosnia, Canada i.a. For the last twelve years she has worked with a variety of groups and individual people (professional dancers, actors, musicians, operasingers, amateur adults, students, youngsters and people with dementia), clarifying the expression of inner intention.
In march 2013 she started a daily Kung Fu training to continue mastering body, mind and energy.
Her fascination with the human expression brought her to different cultures around the world. She is always looking for inspiring encounters and collaborations with people who deal with emotions and the expression of it.
From a large variety of theater- and coaching techniques and influences of different cultures she developed a way of working that focuses on:
Body and language.
Performing for and training with people of different cultures, languages and mindsets, Ganna discovered that communication also falls below the tongue, i.e it is done not by words only but physiqually (and without words being expressed), many things are being communicated. Consciously and unconsciously. Ganna started to focus on the language being spoken by the body and encountered the huge impact of the mind.
Human functioning; to be or not to be - it still is the question.
The focus in training people shifted from teaching theatretechniques in applying them to clarify and therefor liberate the expression in the largest sense of the word: words, intonation, physical impulses and mental patterns. Ganna developed a specific and proper training to un(b)lock mental and physical conditioning (patterns in thoughts and emotions) using theatre-and clowntechniques, music and physical excersises. In stead of playing a credible theater role; a safe structure is created in which one can experiment, experience and 'play' one’s self credible being.
